Summer is drawing ever closer, the warm weather is expiring, and folks are starting to head outside to enjoy it all with the freshest of sneakers on their feet. For our loyal readers who are still spending time inside sitting in front of Sneaker News, we salute you. Like we always do at this time, let’s talk about the biggest bullet points across this week’s stories. The Air Jordan IV “Stealth Oreo” popped up, putting another pair on the must-have list as far as Air Jordan retros in 2013. The Nike LeBron X got just as busy as their namesake player, with the likes of both the lifestyle and the proper basketball versions continuing to tease us. Kevin Durant slipped out of the playoff race but his sneakers managed to maintain our attention via all those unreleased samples. Rounding out the Big Three, Kobe Bryant’s Mambacurial version finally got a release date and a new set of shots.
We learned just how deep Nike Sportswear is going this year thanks to a box full of samples, Kanye West showed up on some adidas for once, and the Nike Zoom Hyperflight was reborn with a bizarre lenticular look. Vandal-A came through with an insane Air Max inspired Bespoke creation, the Nike Air Max EM “Sunset Pack” will apparently be given away through a scavenger hunt next week, and Ewing Athletics further revealed its plans to bring the Focus back. adidas Rookie of the year Damian Lillard got his own pair of the Real Deal, Action Bronson told us what his favorite New Balance pair is, and Sneaker News gave you an exclusive look at the Play Cloths x Saucony “Cotton Candy” pack. Sneaker Con provided us with oodles of heat, as did the custom sneaker creators out there. Continue reading for more on all these headlines and make sure to stick with Sneaker News throughout the weekend for more pertinent info.

The Nike Air Max 1 isn’t the only NSW model that’s gearing up for a group of leopard looks. The Nike Roshe Run FB will be doing so as well, a notion first hinted at by this preview we had back in December of last year. No word on the rest of the colors, but the orange has popped back up in what might end up as one of the more sought after FB styles when the dust settles. See more on the Nike Roshe Run FB “Orange Leopard” after the jump and stay tuned for full release info.

Are you a fan of the bluish hue that’s been showing up on the Air Jordan V retros ever since 2011? If you’re in search of something just a bit darker then Cali Kid Drew has got you covered. This custom version of the sneaker goes for a smoky look on the bottom, with the upper donning an Air Jordan VI-inspired look. That look would be the black/infrared combination, although we’d have to imagine it would be better served with a bit of a brighter red. Get a better look at the Air Jordan V “Infrared/Smoke Bottom” pair after the jump and tell us whether or not Cali Kid Drew nailed it.

Following up on the last month’s US debut comes the second trail update for a 1980s Nike Running classic, and perhaps a second round of Pinnacle releases. The Nike Lunar Solstice Mid SP is back with some more of the vibrant blue from the first drop, though it’s segregated to the heel to make room for an Anthracite-dominated upper. Let us know which you prefer, and if it happens to be these (or you already proudly own the Court Blue edition), buy a pair now at NSW retailers like Hanon.

In its traditional form, the Converse Pro Leather is the one of relatively few 1970s basketball bluchers that came out the gate with a cupsole. So while you might look at the new Pro Leather Vulc Hi and think it’s pretty standard, you’d be right in the sense that it’s now a bit closer to contemporaries the Nike Blazer and adidas Nizza by utilizing a low-profile autoclaved approach. This, along with revised Star/Chevron logo and a quilted heel makes for a fresh take, so check out this Cranberry colorway up close below, then grab yours exclusively at JD Sports.

Most of the recent Gazelle releases including a nice number of 2012 releases have come in ‘OG’ form. Three Stripes changes things up a bit by opting for this adidas Originals Gazelle 2.0, but more important than the name is the material distribution. This Fairway and Green Zest Gazelle 2 is a perfect example of why the ‘tonal’ look is so popular, and it gains extra depth from the subtle contrast between canvas upper, suede toe/eyestay and leather Stripes. You’ll want to enjoy this elegant balance up close after the jump, then grab a pair straight from adidas.

This newest release from Nike Basketball represents a perfect storm of technology and pop culture. The Nike Max H.A.M. takes its name from the lead single from Watch the Throne, and while this model released just in time for summer ball will indeed go hard, the serendipity of combining Hyperfuse and Max Air into a title that captures the tech and a piece of time capsule slang makes these more interesting. Add in the reasonable $95 MSRP and these two colorways are potential sleeper hits, and you’ll find them available now at Finish Line.
