There’s just one more sunset in between you and the Nike Air Max “Sunset Pack”. That is, the official release on Nikestore will happen June 1st, but the sneakers will be given away tomorrow via a couple of scavenger hunts across the US. Those hunts will be led by the likes of Amare Stoudemire out in NYC and Colin Kaepernick in SF, but of whom will be dropping clues via their respective Twitters on where you can track down the shoes. It’s been several months since we’ve seen either the original Chukka or the AM1 hybrid, so it’s a pleasant surprise to see a new Nike Wardour Max 1 colorway arrive at retail. This lifestyle shoe riding the iconic Air Max 1 midsole is a decidedly casual affair in Light British Tan suede plus green on the tongue and outsole. These switch from the boot-like D-ring eyelets to an inline approach and this makes a big difference, particularly for an organic rendition such as this. The still slightly confusing “Essential” moniker continues to be applied to upcoming Nike Air Max 1 styles. Shown here is the latest amongst them, a shoe that slaps some synthetic suede and nubuck stuff across the upper. The white mesh sections are joined in here by a white side Swoosh as well, a choice that we don’t see too terribly often when it comes to this silhouette. Just how generous Ewing Athletics can afford to be with their retro stuff remains to be seen. So far the stars of the show have been the Ewing 33 Hi and the Ewing Focus, but there’s plenty more stuff in their back catalog to draw from. The Converse Auckland Racer is a sneaker that’s been a little bit slim on the special editions so far. The sneaker has been touched up by the likes of the Missoni team though since it’s recent re-introduction, and sometimes that’s all it takes to light a fire underneath any given silhouette. This time around Size? has a couple of tough to track down color-ups, ones that are in fact exclusive to that retailer. The pairs go for a combo of bright yellow and blue bits, thrown across a classic suede and mesh upper. Is it possible that we will ever see the likes of the Air Jordan XI Low colorways from the early part of the millenium extended up to the full silhouette? The group was a simple enough one with its white bases and colorful mudguards, one that we can imagine would be pretty heralded if it ever decided to grow up. Giving us an idea of what that would look like is the Air Jordan XI “Carolina” custom from Noldo. Keep in mind that the Air Jordan XI “Silver Anniversary” was used as the base here, which means that the back end of the sneakers are missing out on the Jumpman.
