DJ Jazzy Jeff, Action Bronson and Cormega have all been connected to recent PRO-Keds projects, but that doesn’t mean this classic American brand is only reaching out to hip-hop artists to connect with today’s youth. Here comes a new team-up with Japanese retailer Beams on a pair of PRO-Keds Royal Los that evokes the sandy suede we’ve seen on several other Far East collabos over the past year or so. That soft brown edition is joined by white and navy pairs that feature the same tonal side panel striping, and you can see all three pairs in greater detail after the jump.

PRO-Keds have made an impact in 2012 thanks to some key collaborative efforts, including linking up with a variety of hip-hop notables ranging from veterans Biz Markie and DJ Jazzy Jeff to newcomers like Action Bronson. Their latest move finds its source somewhere in the middle, this new drop answering Nas’ questions from the Illmatic track ‘One Love’, as in “What up with Cormega/Did you see him/Are y’all together?” The Cormega x PRO-Keds Royal answers in the affirmative, hearkening back to a time when the artist remembers this silhouette as having been even cooler than the iconic Converse Chuck Taylor. But unlike the ubiquitous Chuck, you’re unlikely to ever even see a pair of these with just 50 in production worldwide.
